Project Title: Naya Raipur Transit

The challenge of this project was to create a sense of belonging as the bus stations stand in the midst of barren land between Raipur and the new greenfield city, Naya Raipur. They are expected to capture a large number of commuters between the two cities. A strong geometry to define the stations identifies them as the face of the new, progressive infrastructure development in India. It is anticipated that they will become centers of small ripples forming around them as people seek to locate themselves closer to public transport. The design keeps out the sun, rain and dust in this rather barren area as well as respond to the concerns of security in an uninhabited area. This gives them a much higher sense of enclosure than any of the other bus stations. Client requirements have modified the bus stations across the country, as they gradually mature into a type.
